Advanced Stonework for Trail Construction (3 Days)

This workshop will build upon the material covered in the introductory course, with a focus on increasing overall technical competence. Hands on practice will be emphasized, as well as increasing students technical knowledge of the subject.

The course will include the following components:

• Review of introductory material

• Placement of structures
• Climate and materials considerations
• Shaping materials
• Advanced construction of check step and water bars
• Retaining wall construction styles and physics
• Construction of retaining walls
• Design and construction of stone turnpike
• Other uses of stone
• Supervising stone construction projects

Length: 3 days, with 8 hours of instruction per day

Participants: Maximum 10

Location: Client will provide area specific site/trail where work and instruction will be conducted.

Materials: Client will provide all necessary construction tools and building supplies

Pika Consulting will supply all instruction and educational materials.

Price: $600 + Transportation Fee (Dependant on location and scheduling)
